Important Landmarks in India:

A brief account of important landmarks of India such as Taj Mahah, Jama Masjid, India Gate, Konark Sun Temple, Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Rashtrapati Bhawan and Golden Temple is given below.

1. Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is one of most accepted marvelous among the World famous landmarks and one of New Seven Wonders. The Taj Mahal is situated in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The Taj Mahal is most regarded Mughal Architectures which was built in the memory of Mumtaz Mahal, who was the loving wife of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.

2. Jama Masjid

The Principal Mosque of old Delhi is the Jama Masjid. The Jama Masjid was built by Saha Jahan in the year 1656 and is the best known largest mosque in India. At a time 25000 people can make prayer at the Jama Masjid. The Jama Masjid is at height of 41 meter, 80 meter in length and 27 meter in width.

3. India Gate

The India Gate (The national monument of India) is situated in New Delhi, India. The India Gate was established in the year 1921 and unveiled in the year 1933. The India Gate bears the names of 13,516 Indian and British soldiers who lost their life in the Afgan War in 1919.

4. Konark Sun Temple

The Konark Sun Temple is one of the UNESCO Heritage site, situated at Konark in Odisha. The Sun temple was built in the 13th century by Narasimhadeva I. The Konark Sun Temple is also featured in the list of Seven Wonders of India by NDTV and The times of India.

5. Lotus Temple

The Lotus Temple is situated in New Delhi which was built in the year 1986. This temple is like Lotus flower and serves as Mother Temple of Indian Sub-continent. Fariborz Sahba was the architect of Lotus temple. It has the seating capacity of 1300 people. The Lotus temple is one of prominent tourist attraction of New Delhi.

6. Qutub Minar

The Qutub Minar is one of the UNESCO Heritage site, situated in Delhi and the tallest Minar in India. The Qutub Minar has 379 steps and 237.8 ft height.

7. Red Fort

The Red Fort or “Lal Quila” was built in the 17th century by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. The Red fort was designed by the architect Ustad Ahmed. The Red fort celebrates the Independence Day every year on 15th August of India.

8. Rashtrapati Bhavan

President of India’s official home is the Rastrapati Bhavan which situated in New Delhi. Rastrapati Bhavan has a mansion which has 340 room building and serves as official residence of Indian President.

9. Golden Temple

The Golden Temple is a holy Sikh Gurdwara, situated in the city of Amritsar in Punjab. It had been built by the Guru Arjan (5th Sikh Guru) in 1604. There are roughly more than 100 thousand people of all religions visit this holy Sikh Gurdwara (the Golden Temple) for worship every day.
