Saint Kabir (also Kabira) was a disciple of Ramananda. Kabir believed in equality of men and preached the religion of love for promoting unity among all castes and creeds.
Saint Kabir asserted the Allah and Rama were names of one and the same god. God could be found neither in the temple, nor in the mosque neither in Benaras, nor in Mecca, but only in the heart of his devotees.
Kabir’s devotion, sincerity and good behaviour attracted many people. Many people including Hindus and Muslims became his disciple. Kabir was not a literate person. But by composing small poems, he could express his views. These are known a Kabir’s ‘Doha’.
