Harmful Effects of Ozone Layer Depletion
The cause of Ozone Layer Depletion are discussed below:
Effect of climate: If the Ultra violet rays of sun reaches directly to the earth surface, the temperature of the lower atmosphere will be increased. As the result the local climate will be changed, beside this the level of the sea will be increased as the continental and mountain glacier will be melted. The coastal area will be flooded.
Photo chemical process will be increased by the effect of the Ultra violet rays on the earth surface and as the result the formation of smog will be increased.
There will be a change in solar electrical magnetic radiation due to the effect of excessive Ultraviolet (UV) ray. As the result the balance of the temperature of earth will be destroyed. There will be disturbance in biotic and chemical circle.
Effects on human beings: Risk of skin cancer and cataract have increased for the effect of Ultraviolet ray.
Smog may cause the respiratory problem of human being.
The resistant power of man will be reduced for the effect of Ultraviolet ray. People may be attacked by different epidemic diseases.
Effects on the plants: Due the harmful effect of ultraviolet ray (UV-3), the ecosystem of plants may be adversely affected.
The numbers of amphibians are becoming low because of the penetration of UV-B in the environment.
Effect of Ecosystem: If the Ozone depletion cannot be controlled the balance of eco-system will be distracted. If there is a change in biotic environment, there will be also a change in physiology with the change of the weather. The height, characteristic and the density of plants changes with the change in temperature.
It is high time to take appropriate actions to prevent Ozone Layer Depletion.
