Justice

The common sense meaning of justice is a feeling of fairness, equality and honesty in our transactions and communication in all aspects of life.

In legal terms, justice is a more complex term defined by the law of the land, differently in different countries and is dictated by the prevalent judiciary system.

Justice is a core value in all forms of social life of our civilized world.

Importance of Justice

Relationships

Justice is important to maintain mutual respect in relationships. In common terms, this means a fair and honest dealing in relationships. But in extreme cases of crime there may also be a need for legal justice in relationships.

Family

A disciplined family structure functions on good values in collective honesty and fairness. In cases of family disputes over land, finances, etc. legal justice is important to restore understanding.

Society

Justice and health judiciary is vital for the proper functioning of any society, population or country. Presence of justice in daily life and criminal situations, ensures public safety and sanity.

Business

All business transactions work on a fair amount of mutual trust and interdependence. The core values are mutual respect and just behaviour. If these are breached, legal justice has to be done to correct the crimes, big or small.

Legal

Legal justice involves judiciary systems and procedures to understand and correct wrong-doings and crimes, with adequate punishments and compensations.

Global

Global crimes require justice at a global level, and there are international courts and tribunals that handle this expertise.

Forms

There can be many forms of justice depending on the wrong-doing e.g. caution, penalty, fine, compensation, physical punishments, financial punishments, etc.
