Soil Conservation is important because all the living beings of our earth directly or indirectly depend on the soil of the earth.
Irrational human activities has caused the unnecessary extension of agricultural fields, now townships have spruce up, collection of minerals and extensive grazing of the cattle have harmed the soils exceedingly.
Development of agriculture, flora and fauna anywhere in the world depends largely on the soil. The flora, from the grass up to the tree, of a territory carries out the formidable responsibility of preserving pr conserving the soil there.
- Preservation of forestry – The taros check erosion. Preservation of soil is carried out through forestation.
- Afforestation in a flood-prove area checks erosion.
- Step or Serrate-ploughing does not allow the rains to wash away the soil-particles.
- Control on excessive grazing – Unrestrained grazing or rearing unrestricted number of livestock in a small area of land lead to quick destruction of grazing land as well as of the forest.
- Scientific and proper application of fertilizers does not harm the fertility of the soil.
- Rotational farming of different grains enhances the fertility of the land.
- Afforstation on the border-land of the desert helps to check the expansion of the desert and thus helps preservation of soil.
It is a fact that afforestation very seriously helps to preserve the soil – but to put this truth into practice weeds proper publicity and people’s awareness.
