Solar energy is becoming an increasingly important environmentally friendly and renewable source of energy.
The largest solar plant in the world is currently located in India. More specifically, it is situated in Kamuthi, which is in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is called the Kamuthi Solar Power Project.
This huge solar plant covers no less than 10 square kilometers and it is able to generate 648 MW of energy. An exciting and innovative part of its design is the robotic self cleaning system, which cleans every one of the solar panels individually every single day.
This solar power plant was commissioned by the company called Adani Power. This energy company is based in Gujurat and it is India’s largest producer of solar power. In 2016, it commissioned five power stations close to the Kamuthi Solar Power Project to connect up to it and to start using its power and distributing the power to homes and businesses in the surrounding region.
