Category: Essays and Paragraphs On November 23, 2018 By Aparna

Red Fort is one of the most historical places on earth and it is one of those places where the gathering of people remains the same throughout the year. It is a fort that started getting built on 12th May 1639 and got finished on 6th April 1648. So eventually it took more than eight years to build this historical fort.

The Red Fort is in Delhi and it is one of the most famous places in the country. It is one of those famous sites which got placed in UNESCO’s world heritage list. It also gets called Lal Qila which is the Hindi translation of Red Fort.

Emperor Shah Jahan was the one who started the construction of the fort with the help of famous architect Ahmad Lahouri who also constructed The Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan asked his employees to make a beautiful fort and then later on his successor added some more beauty to the fort with his suggestions and made it one of the most beautiful places in the country. Here are some important points that everyone should know about the famous Red Fort of India:

Flag hoisting ceremony – Even when the Red Fort has grown so old still on the Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India hoists the Indian national flag on the front gate of the fort and also gives a speech on this auspicious occasion in which he talks about some special schemes and people.

Tourist attraction – Even after so many years got passed, still its beauty is the same and that is why a lot of tourists gather every day to have a look at it. It also has a light and sound show during the evening time which gets loved by a lot of people and people come especially to watch that show. Moreover the water bodies of the fort are now dry but the quality of marble which got placed on the fort is still the same. A lot of places inside the fort got closed for the visitors due to their bad conditions. The Mughal tea house got turned into a working restaurant now and the public bath arena is closed for public now. There is also an archaeological museum and a museum to memorize all the martyrs of the 20th century.

There are a number of places inside the Red Fort that one should definitely watch which are Naubat Khanna, Diwan-I-Aam, Mumtaz Mahal, Nahar-i-Bihisht, Khas Mahal, Diwan-i-Khas, Baoli, Moti Masjid etc. All of these places are worth watching but most of them are in a condition where one may never get to watch them again anytime. So, if you have not watched the Red Fort yet, you should visit it now as it is one of the biggest monuments in the country and the biggest monument in Delhi.
