Electricity is a form of Electromagnetic Energy that is a natural Energy source, which is tapped, converted and utilized by human being across the world for their daily home appliances.
Electricity is generated in large quantities in some specialized locations and sources in each region and country and then it is supplied via Electric supply towers and cables to smaller units in human societies.
It is the same electricity that is found in the Lightning that we see flashing across the skies. It is just that the amount and nature of Electric Energy in the Lightning is not suitable for utilization in human life. When the same Energy is generated through artificial processes by human beings, it can be stored, controlled and supplied in a regulated manner for utilization by the human population. This is the modern definition of Electricity.
Electricity generation
Modern day electricity is generated by huge Electricity Generators, which are specially designed machines that convert some form of Heat Energy or Kinetic Energy into Electric Energy. The Heat Energy is produced from Steam generated by burning Fossil Fuels like Petroleum, Coal, Natural Gas, etc. More than three-fourths of the Electricity produced and used in the world today is produced by this method. Whereas even Kinetic Energy produced from the speed of fast moving Wind or Water, can also be used to convert into Electricity. This is a small proportion of Electricity production in today’s world. The current methods of Electricity production have a huge Environmental impact in terms of the Fossil Fuels burnt and we need to divert our attention to technology which can use alternative sources of Electricity production. But the final product that is Electricity is a clean source of Energy and does not produce any environmental impact, unlike other Energy sources like Fossil Fuels, etc.
Supply and use
Electricity thus produced is stored and supplied in a controlled manner to human settlements, so that human beings can use this Electricity for their home use to run all the basic conveniences of our modern life and all home appliances, etc.
The latest use of Electricity is in the development of Electric cars.
Electricity is vital and valuable source of Power for our modern human life.
