I wish to seek for the attention of you students and the teachers present as I deliver my speech to you. My speech shall be on saving the earth. It is clear that the earth is at a risk of being exposed to ultra-violet rays as the ozone layer grows thinner and thinner. Global warming is also becoming a common subject of discussion in the modern world. If no measures are taken to address these said issues, then the world might not be the best place to live in in the next few decades.
Gone are the days when persons would use different phenomena to predict the weather; gone are those days in which persons would know when to expect particular climatic conditions. An irregular pattern climatic condition now dominates the world.
This speech enlists only but a few of the adverse effects of interference by mankind to the atmosphere. The interference is from activities such as emission of toxic gases to the atmosphere through the burning of fossils and deforestation which has become a great concern all over the world.
It has come to a point therefore that measures need to not only be set up theoretically but the actual performance of what is believed or proved to be the actual remedy for the predicaments bound to hit the earth need to be affected. It is ironical that even the scientists and geographers warning the world of the risks facing the earth as a result of environmental degradation also engage in all the activities resulting in the same. As a saying goes, it is easier said than done.
Measures such as Afforestation, pollution control measures, less dependence on fossil fuels, and proper handling of the toxic gases to prevent their emission to the atmosphere, etc., will save the earth and not only speaking about them as remedies but making steps to bring give effect this said remedies.
Thank you all for remaining attentive and listening to my speech.
