Fan – Essay.
The fan is a device that delivers the amount of cool air at low pressure. There are many different types of fans and various applications. The fans used in the modern age are the electric fans mostly comprised of a motor connected to blades. The motor blades that move at a fast speed to create a fast flow of air causing the air to cool. In warm places, it is common to see fans to get rid of the discomfort of heat and sweat.
History
The earliest use of a fan dates back to over 3000 years ago. It was the traditional hand fan. Any material that was easily manipulated could be folded and made into a hand fan. The country that we’ve learned over the years that fans originated from is China. These days, fans come in many shapes and sizes.
Types of fans
Various designs and styles have been created. The common ones are:
Ceiling fans:
This is hung from a hook in the ceiling to circulate air throughout the room in an even manner. In places, with warmer climates, these types are more popular because they are a permanent fixture. These fans are typically mounted to the ceiling. It comprises of a motor and long fan blades
Table fans:
A table fan is moveable and can be used where needed by setting it on a comfortable height, usually on a table. These fans are relatively popular where they are only needed for shorter durations of warm weather. These fans are portable and economical. They can be placed just on the bedside table in your room
Pedestal fans:
They are portable like table fans but set on the floor. They may have a moving head to give a larger coverage area. These fans are very powerful, and they generate very strong air. The height of this type can be easily adjustable.
Wall fans:
These fans are good for even circulation, and an added advantage is that they save space wherever they are placed.
Exhaust fans
Exhaust fans do the exact opposite of the above types. They suck in air from a space and let it out. They are typically installed in a small frame in places like kitchens to let out smoke or cooking smells. Or in bathrooms to let out the foul smells.
Conclusion
Fans are very useful components in the day to day activities, and their applications are vast ranging from the home to industries. They are handy appliances, especially in warm climates.
