“Success comes only to those who are too busy looking for it”. This quote summarises the essence of the idea of success. Good morning to the students and teachers gathered here. I am here today to talk to you about success. How would you define success? It would mean attaining a big goal for many of us. We all have ambitions and goals and achieving those goals would mean success for us. To succeed means to achieve and we all want to succeed.
Going back to the quote, success requires hard work. Success is different from luck essentially. It comes only to those who toil hard for it. When we want to achieve success, we have to plan our sub goals and work hard to attain them.
This would also mean that we have to defy the various challenges and obstacles that we face. The value of the success comes from the amount of effort that we put in to fight against the odds and attain them. It does not come to us when we just think about it and not work for it.
Success is not attained but is maintained. For instance, if success means that you want to become a doctor, it does not end with you becoming a doctor. It is a continuous state that we want to maintain. Being an effective doctor who helps their patients and continues ethical practise is considered to be successful. We cannot stop working once we attain our goal. We need to work hard to maintain that goal and retain that success. This also shows that we need to busy ourselves in finding success and retaining it.
Success does not have to be something very big that it takes one to fame. Success can be modest and still be a big achievement. Take the case of someone coming from a poor family in a backward district and manages to get a job with the local government that gives him/her a good salary and ability to work. A happy family with a sufficient source of income and resources is also a success. Success can come in any sizes but it needs to be achieved and worked towards.
In the end of this speech, I would like to say that success comes in many sizes but that does not restrict us from dreaming bigger. All of us have the capacity to achieve great success. The key is in identifying what one is good at and putting one’s efforts towards the goal. I am sure all of us can succeed and I end by wishing everyone the best for achieving success.
