NEWS is any noteworthy or newly received information that is of importance to a large portion of the public and is generally about recent events or development in older events.
The importance of News comes from the many benefits that come with staying on top of the happenings around the world as well as locally has.
Some of the major reasons news is very important are:
- First and foremost, news tells a society what all is happening around them that may affect them directly. Any event that is crucial to many people at the same time and instantly is certainly news and needs to be known to all concerned parties.
- It allows people to be connected to the world at large and know those things that may be of consequence to friends or family members of a person.
- It allows people to form opinions on important topics and events that are relevant and is thus one of the founding stones of democracy by giving people the resources they need to hold an opinion and a stand.
- It keeps the stakeholders of any event updated on any recent or sudden developments in a crucial event. This may be needed for these persons to take a quick decision on the matter.
- It allows people to be abreast of laws and regulations ignorance of which may result them getting into trouble with the law or doing an act which will affect them and others.
- News reporting helps people be more knowledgeable of any old event or matter in which there has been a fresh development thus enabling an overall higher level of awareness amongst those who view/read it.
- An accounting of the events allows everyone involved in the same to share their side of the event and allows informed decisions to be made rather than biased ones based on incomplete information.
- Reporting of the news allows people who are experts in the domains of the events to share their views regarding the same with the public and thus keeps the people more and more informed of the depths of the matter.
- A healthy discussion between opposing viewpoints is made possible by news broadcasting in the form of panel discussions and debates. This helps the people assess the situation in a better manner.
- News allows people to gain interest in topics that are relevant to them and those around them and leads to them following up the same to stay updated on these and other events.
- A news broadcast also helps people see the people behind any event who can be held accountable or who are the persons behind the good that is happening.
- Linking of old and new events or how exactly an event may unfold and what it could possibly also lead to is covered by news and it may not be possible for everyone to make these connections themselves, thus it becomes important that news be heard/read/viewed.
- News also provides information regarding the people holding important positions in the world, the country and locally and thus empowers the people to know who those in charge administratively are.
- News helps highlight local events being held for the public such as shows, fairs etc and the knowledge of the same is crucial to the local public to be able to attend.
- Entertainment news allows people to be distracted and makes the follow on the lives of the people they admire and look up to as celebrities.
Overall, be it the local news or international one, getting to know the news is crucial for all.
