Navegaon National Park was established in the year 1975. This park is also known as Navegaon Bandh National Park. This park is situated is Gondia district covering an area of 134 sq. km.
The park falls in the tropical zone. Its terrain is hilly and forests are tropical dry deciduous interspersed with bamboo groves. Teak is found in the forests of the park along with other mixed species. Within the park there is Navegaon Lake spreading over an area of approximately 11 sq. km with clear water. On account of this lake a large number of migratory birds are attracted to the park.
The fauna here consist of tiger, panther, sloth bear, nilgai, fishing cat, leopard, chausingha, sambar, chital deer, black buck, python etc. the birds found here include herons, spoonbills, cranes, pelicans, egrets, drongos, kites, pigeons and partridges.
Navegaon Bandh National Park is one of the famous national parks at Maharashtra.
May and December are the best months for visiting the park. The park is provided with rest houses for tourists.
At a distance of 1 km from the National Park, there is a railway station at Deolgaon. The nearest airport is at Sonegaon (Nagpur) at a distance of 130 km from the park.
