Viswanatha Satyanarayana popularly known as Viswanatha is undoubtedly the greatest Telugu writer of the 20th century.
No wonder he is hailed as `Kavisamrat’ or the emperor among the poets.
Viswanatha was born on 10th day of September, 1895.
Viswanatha was a prolific writer in both prose and poetry. His prose works include outstanding novels like Veyipadagalu (thousand hoods), Jebudongalu (pickpocket), Ekavira, etc. His magnum opus Veyipadagalu has been translated into Hindi as Sahasra Phan by P.V. Narasimha Rao.
Viswanatha won the prestigious ‘Jnanapeeth’ award.
