Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the first Sikh Guru. He founded the Sikh Religion.
Guru Nanak was another exponent of Bhakti Cult. He was born in the village named Talwandi near Lahore on 15th day of April, 1469.
The religion of Guru Nanak was based on three principles. They are one God, Guru and muttering of prayers. In his opinion God is deathless, viewer of truth, fearless, enemy-less, unborn, express-in-himself.
Nanak called upon people to have devotion in this God. In his opinion Guru was ocean and disciple was a river. The disciple should end in the Guru. His direction was a middle path between sanyas and earthly life. He did not believe in discrimination of caste and dogma of untouchability. He preached the moral of tolerant religion and tried to unite Hindus and Muslims. His disciples are known as Sikhs.
He died on September 22, 1539.
